How to use Pending Review Note Status Feature

Definition

The Pending Review status is a flag used to identify clinical progress notes that require additional input or review from a healthcare provider before finalization.

Example: If an audio file transcription is incomplete or unclear, a user can mark the note as Pending Review, signaling the provider to provide additional information.

Note: This feature is currently limited to the desktop application.

Steps to Put a Note into Pending Review Status:

  1. Locate the Sign Bill Button: Find this button within the progress note or billing summary tab.

  2. Open the Dropdown Menu: Click the downward arrow on the "Sign Bill" button.

  3. Select Pending Review: Choose this option from the dropdown menu.

Steps to Clear the Pending Review Status:

  1. Locate the Encounter: Find the encounter on the census or encounters page.
  2. Filter by Pending Review: Use the filter to identify notes in this status.

  3. Select the Note: Choose the note and either:
    1. Save as Draft: Save the note
    2. Sign and Bill: Complete the note and submit it for billing.

 Understanding Pending Review Status:

  • Flag for Provider Attention: This action signifies the provider that the note requires further information or review before it can be completed.
  • Filter for Pending Review Notes: The census and encounters list view page includes a filter to quickly identify notes in the Pending Review status.
  • Visual Indicator: Pending Review notes will be marked with an orange note icon.
  • Resolving Pending Review: To resolve the Pending Review status, the note must be either:
    • Signed: The provider reviews and signs the note.
    • Saved as a Draft: The note is saved as a draft and can be edited later.

Why Use Pending Review?

By using the Pending Review status, scribes can efficiently communicate the need for additional provider input, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
